據purexbox消息，業內知名記者Jeff Grubb最近談到了位於溫哥華的Xbox工作室The Coalition的消息,其中提到，《戰爭機器6》的開發工作已經全面進行了一年左右。
I mentioned it like summer 2021. I heard again around that Matrix demo that it was still working on it. But things could have changed. I do believe that work on Gears 6 has begun in full in the last year or so, though.

《戰爭機器5》早在2019年就發售了，但一般來講續作的開發要經過一段時間才會開始。而開發團隊也在2021年和Epic Games合作製作了《駭客任務：覺醒》的Demo。
在去年四月，《戰爭機器5》的地圖構建功能被關閉，官方表示將「專注於未來的項目」。根據時間點來猜測的話，傳言聽起來具有一定可信度。
儘管如此，一切還都只是猜測，我們再看到《戰爭機器6》的官方公告前，最好假設它還有很長的路要走。
