在今日科隆展開幕夜直播中，暴雪正式發布了《魔獸世界》全新資料片《至暗之夜》的預告片。對此，原《魔獸世界》核心團隊負責人@Grummz 發推直言，批評暴雪有意醜化遊戲中的血精靈形象。
他寫道：「《魔獸世界》里的血精靈到底發生了什麼?
《至暗之夜》預告剛剛公開，血精靈在片中居然被一根難看的棍子重擊。
我們最初設計血精靈時特別注重美感，就是因為遊戲上線初期，韓國玩家普遍不願選擇部落陣營——經我調查，主要原因在於部落缺乏美麗的女性角色。血精靈成功解決了這個問題。而現在，暴雪卻非要推翻這個設定。」

不僅Grummz，多位推特用戶也紛紛發聲，指責暴雪這一令人費解的操作。
無獨有偶，動視《決勝時刻：黑色行動7》中的女主角形象同樣引發爭議，被不少玩家批評造型醜陋，並質疑其受到極端女權主義的影響。
