這位名叫Giopp的玩家解釋，他理解稱呼關係密切的長輩為阿姨，但鄰居不過是點頭之交，算不上熟人，這樣稱呼讓他感到彆扭。
帖子被算法推流後，網友們紛紛科普：在亞洲、西班牙、非洲、阿拉伯等文化中，這樣稱呼長輩是常見習俗。
還有人指出，翻譯時常把「阿姨」譯成「Madam」，也算官方翻譯的鍋。
In Asia, yeah. Usually for English viewer, they localized it as "Madam" and "Sir". But in actuality, they called them "Aunty" and "Uncle". "Sir/Miss" are also used to localize "Big Brother/Sister", because must have been weird for them to call random people your sibling.
留言區直接變成「批鬥大會」：「只有你們美國人才會直呼長輩全名」「現在年輕人連『Unc』（叔叔）都不會用了？」「不是針對原Po，但好笑的是，這類帖子幾乎都出自美國人之手。」
更有網友一針見血：「這次發帖，總算讓原Po見識了美國以外的世界。」
literally everyone in asia calls older people auntie or uncle. we are not mannerless like you americans who call elders by their names.
What I find weird is young kids being comfortable calling older people by their names.
