專注於《惡靈古堡》爆料的消息人士Dusk Golem在回答網友提問時，稱Capcom「幾乎百分之百會在今年正式公布《惡靈古堡9》遊戲，2026年發售。」
Golem表示：「問題在於是在今夏的遊戲祭上還是年底的TGA上公布，可能會在當前財年（截止2026年3月31日）或Capcom的下個財年（2026年年底）公布。」

考慮到《GTA6》已經定檔在2026年5月，而遊戲廠商們都在盡力避免和《GTA6》撞車，因此《惡靈古堡9》最有可能會在2026年下半年發售，除非這款遊戲的開發進度很快。
Golem還提到Capcom開發團隊實際上已經在內部延期了《惡靈古堡9》，他們認為《惡靈古堡9》需要更多的開發時間。
根據此前的消息，《惡靈古堡9》將是系列最具野心的作品，將作出重大變革，該系列上一款發售作品是《惡靈古堡4：重製版》，2023年3月24日發售。
