近日，曾因爭議言論引發關注的國外遊戲媒體The Gamer啟動了大規模裁員行動。
回顧2022年10月，該媒體曾發布一篇直指「稱自己是遊戲玩家的人更可能性別歧視和種族歧視」的爭議文章，批評玩家喜歡搞「性別歧視和種族歧視」。
目前獲悉，The Gamer的多位記者正積極尋求新職，因該媒體整個編輯部門已實際關閉。部分海外玩家興奮地傳播這一消息，稱親眼見證這些標榜"進步理念"的遊戲媒體正在"大眾視野中"走向瓦解。

此前，Eurogamer、Polygon、Giant Bomb及IGN等多家外媒均經歷了不同程度的裁員潮。據行業統計數據顯示，過去兩年間已有超1200名「遊戲記者」失去工作崗位。
