《心靈界限》開發商Pirate Software指出這一事件凸顯了與大型發行商簽約的殘酷現實。Pirate Software表示：「看看索尼《絕地戰兵2》最近幾天的情況，這嚴峻地提醒了與發行商合作存在的陷阱。在簽下你的遊戲之前，確保你知道你得做什麼。」
Pirate Software還表示：「長期以來，我的目標就是要麼創辦一家獨立發行商，要麼一開始就與一家與我目標相一致的發行商合作。像目前這樣的情況，讓這兩者在我心中的分量更重了。」
