在原作《墮落之主》成功後，發行商CI Games和開發商Hexworks在今年的科隆展上公布了續作《墮落之主2》，，登陸PC，PS5和Xbox Series平台。粉絲們原本對這一消息非常興奮，但很快隨著他們發現《墮落之主2》PC版是Epic商城獨占，不會登陸Steam後，興奮迅速被失望之情取代。
很多粉絲指出，Steam是他們的首先遊戲平台，非常失望這款遊戲不能登陸PC Steam。隨後CI Games的CEO Marek Tyminski對此進行了進一步的解釋。
Marek Tyminski在個人X上說：「Epic Games對《墮落之主2》進行了巨額投資，這幫助我們維持了對遊戲及其IP的完整創意控制。
他們的支持，尤其是在虛幻5方面，更是無微不至。這種密切的合作是我們能夠進一步推進遊戲發展的重要原因，也是這款遊戲與《墮落之主》2023年首發時體驗截然不同的原因。

CI Games CEO在科隆展之後又進行了具體解釋
Marek Tyminski的解釋看起來比較合理，畢竟《墮落之主2》背後的金主是Epic Games，所以《墮落之主2》在Epic保持獨占也能說得通。但也有玩家並不看好這一操作。
有玩家說看看同樣是Epic獨占的《心靈殺手2》的命運就知道了，對此Marek Tyminski回應說：「這個根本不能比，屬於兩種不同的遊戲類型，玩家群體也不同。」
也有玩家表達了支持態度。一名玩家回應道：
「我相信你的出發點是好的，並非惡意，你看起來確實在乎。
雖然這對工作室來說可能很好，可以保證你收回成本，但對於那些幫助你的遊戲在Steam上取得成功、不喜歡Epic平台而更喜 Steam平台的玩家來說，這可能不太好。他們可能會覺得被冷落了（我知道這不是你的本意，但這不會改變他們的感受），如果是永久獨占，他們肯定會有這種感覺。

Whilst this is probably good for the studio to guarantee you recover costs, it's perhaps not so good for players who helped your game find success on steam who don't like epic and prefer…
I've no problems with it being on epic initially, as while I do love steam; and it's my 'default' store, competition is a good thing.

I don't want one market place or company to control the platform, it's not healthy for anyone, least of all gamers and buyers.

If it's a timed exclusive - I'm all up for it. If it's a permanent Epic Games only - that'll make it a hard sell for me, I don't use EGS at all.

I understand why you'd make this decision, though.
While understandable, it's still very unfortunate. Hopefully it's a timed exclusive because I refuse to separate my library on principle. At least we always have the first game

I refuse to spend a penny on Epic Games Store and like most PC gamers, I'll just pirate this game or wait for a Steam release if I want to play it. Epic Games Store is a marketing black hole - you should know this by now.
